The term "volume" (plural: "volumes") refers to an element that allows apps to display 3D content in a defined bounds, sharing the space with other apps.

Volumes are three-dimensional (3D) spaces that enable apps (i.e. experiences) to display and control geometries, models or objects within the shared space.

Volumes are great for demonstrating 3D content, for example the earth or a chess board.

Users can re-size and reposition volumes within space (i.e. the shared space) and can view them from different angles.
