Throughout history Den Haag, the city where our founder spent his childhood, has been home to famous artists such as Piet Mondriaan, Vincent Van Gogh and M.C. Escher. The last of which served as the greatest source of artistic inspiration in Oscar's childhood, thanks to his visits to the 'Escher in het Paleis', found at the end of the Denneweg.
In 2015, when Oscar was given an extroardinary opportunity to pitch products to the Museum of Modern Art, Oscar sought inspiration from these memories and sought inspiration from the 'Bond of Union' to create the Curvas.
In April 2015, Oscar believed that the Curvas was the creation that would earn its way into the MoMA Design Store and presented it first, at which point he was told that there was already something in the collection that had the same purpose. Pivoting quickly, he switched to the Illusion Spinner and amplified the illusion that both M.C. Escher and his grandfather had given him throughout his childhood, a presentation that would lead the Spinner to be selected for the MoMA Design Store.
