Graphs, or the Graph, is a term that is used across artificial intelligence (AI), data science, computer science and mathematics that focuses on the data that is available for a problem and how the data is being queried (i.e. searched through or questioned).

Within the graph there are two additional terms that are important Nodes and Edges.

Nodes

Nodes are entities or objects.

Examples include:

  • A customer profile.
  • A material.
  • A sneaker.

Edges

Edges are relationships or connections between nodes.

Examples include:

  • The friends that a customer has on a platform.
  • A material that is used on a sneaker.
  • The amount of sneakers that a customer owns.
