What is a Static Template?

A template that creates a web page or screen with a specific layout by providing content to a set of components that are laid out in a fixed order.

When creating a website or app that uses a headless CMS, teams and organizations can create web pages or screens through two types of templates: static templates or dynamic templates.

The left half of the image shows the CraftCMS static template for our about page. The right half of the image shows how our web system consumes the content to produce the final output.

Our about page uses a static template.

Static templates leverage Atomic Design to produce web pages or screens that have a fixed layout that feeds content from the headless CMS to components that are laid out in a preset order.
