What is a Product Roadmap?

A Roadmap, or Agile Product Roadmap, is a plan of action of how a product, service or experience will evolve over time.

When creating a campaign, feature, product, service or experience (i.e. an initiative) it is important to know where you are, where you are headed and the objective that you are trying to meet.

In order to do this, teams often create and groom a backlog of user stories (tasks) and agile user stories (tasks) that comprise the body of work required to execute the initiative.

These user stories (tasks) and agile user stories (tasks) often fall under epics that allow the body of work to be broken down into sections.

The epics, user stories and agile user stories are constantly prioritized in what is known as Backlog Grooming to reflect the objectives and wishes of the business and which ultimately serve as a representation of the agile product roadmap.
