What is a Polygon Count?
The term "polygon count" refers to the number of polygons in a 3D model, object or geometry. Large polygon counts are complex and expensive to render.
An example of how increasing polygon count increases the accuracy of a 3D model or object.
When modeling 3D models or objects, there are two terms that are often used:
- Low Polygon Count to refer to the version of an object that has a reduced amount of polygons, a small file size and which renders faster and with less power.
- High Polygon Count to refer to the version of an object that has a large amount of polygons, a large file size and which is more accurate but renders slower and requires more power.
