What are the values of Scrum?
The five values of scrum are Commitment, Courage, Focus, Openness and Respect.
Scrum is an agile project management framework that helps teams structure and manage their work through a set of values, principles and ceremonies.
The five values of Scrum are:
Commitment
Each member of the team plays a significant role and is fundamental to the success of the project.
As a result, each member needs to commit to their contribution; ensuring that they do things well and on-time whilst not overcommitting.
As this is easier said then done, teams use stand-up to align on progress and complications on a daily basis.
Courage
A display of bravery from a team is key to a successful implementation of scrum.
Teams should have the courage and feel safe enough to try new things and to communicate when roadblocks appear or things don't happen as expected. This communication tends to happen over a messaging software or at stand-up.
Focus
Sprints are intended to execute a select portion of the body of work within a specific period of time to achieve a business objective.
Openness
Ensuring that the work is executed in a streamlined, efficient way requires fluid, open communication.
Teams achieve this by meeting up on a daily basis in what's known as a stand-up.
Respect
The strength of a team is its ability to collaborate together to achieve the goal of a Sprint.
In order to do this effectively and in good health, team members must respect each other.
