A guide to writing epics.

Epics are used in projects that implement Agile Methodologies or Scrum and consist of a body of work that is broken up into user stories or tasks, whom in hand are composed of agile user stories or subtasks.

When writing or defining the epics for the initiative, we recommend that you think deeply about how an initiative should be broken down into headlines that can be executed by a team.

The examples below should help you identify epics that work for your project.

Examples of Epics

Examples of Epics include:

  • A marketing campaign.
  • Front-End development
  • Back-end development
  • Analytics
  • Reporting
  • User Management
  • Content Management System
  • Security
  • ADA Compliance
  • Miscellaneous

Next Steps

Once you have decided on the epics for your product, service or experience, the next step is to write all the user stories and agile user stories.
