How to carry out a Functional Test
A three step process to carrying out functional tests.
Please note that it is recommended that you carry out a functional test before or as part of a usability test.
Step One: Create something to test
In order to carry out a functional test, you must have something to test.
We recommend that you write a hypothesis and define a target audience as part of the process of creating your product, service, experience or feature.
Step Two: Carry out the functional test
Test the product, service or experience to make sure that it works as expected.
This is often referred to as Quality Assurance.
Step Three: Report the results
Create a report with the findings of the functional test.
If things don't work as expected, create tickets on Jira or Asana to make sure that you are tracking them.
Always remember, the work is never done
delasign's process
When carrying out functional tests, it is important to note that they are neither a start nor an end.
They should serve as a means to validate that things work.
Don't be surprised if after developing a new feature, what once worked, no longer works - it's part of the process.
