How to switch between Variable Collections in Figma

A step guide on changing the active collection of variables in the variables window.

Step One: Open the Variables Window

<p>A screenshot of Figma highlighting the settings icon to the right of "Local Variables" on the right menu side bar. Click it to open the variables window. If you can't find it, make sure you have selected the canvas (i.e. that no frame, asset or other object is selected).</p>

On the right menu bar, next to Local Variables, click the settings icon.

How to access variables in a Figma project

Step Two: Open the Sidebar

Click the icon on the top left to open the sidebar.

Step Three: Switch Collection

This opens up a menu that allows you to switch collection. Click the name of the collection that you would like to switch to.</p>

Click the name of the collection on the top right of the variables window side bar to open the Collection menu. In this menu, click the name of the collection you would like to switch to.
