A step by step guide on changing or updating the name of a collection of variables in Figma.

Step One: Switch to the Relevant Collection

A screenshot of Figma showing the Variable window open, it shows 4 variables with default names. The four variables are a color, number, string and boolean. They are split across two groups, “all variables” and “colors”. The variable window sidebar is open and we have clicked the name of the collection on the top left. This opens up a menu that allows you to switch collection. Click the name of the collection that you would like to switch to.

Open the variables window and select the collection that you wish to rename.

Step Two: Rename the Collection

Click the name of the collection on the top right of the variables window side bar to open the Collection menu. In this menu, click Rename collection.

Type in the new name and press Enter.
